Chetak Travels (Chetak) was founded in June 1991 to provide complete travel solutions for travelers around the globe. Based in Pondicherry, a former French colony in south India, Chetak has grown to become a marquee travel company. The company is proud to provide personalized attention and care towards its clients. A family-run enterprise, Chetak has over the years transformed itself into a boutique travel company that is primarily focused on the inbound travel market.

In the summer of 1991, my wife and I were travelling to Chennai by bus. We were brainstorming about various potential business opportunities, while admiring the beautiful beaches of Mahabalipuram that passed us by.

Interestingly, a couple of days back, we had received a phone call from a close friend informing us about an office space situated on prime property of the main commercial street of Pondicherry.

Chetak’s team is proud to create personalized travel itineraries in India and abroad, for travellers who seek experiences that go well beyond run-of-the-mill touristic routes and sites. With this spirit in mind, the directors first spend considerable time listening to each client to understand his/her wishes, objectives and expectations for every trip. The directors, along with their team, use their extensive knowledge, experience and network to meet the requests of each client and create a personalized itinerary. Additionally, the staff at Chetak personally vet the destination and hotel before proposing them to various clients. Once the trip is finalized, the directors ensure a follow up at every step of the journey, just like the client was a part of their family. At Chetak, we strive to be a socially responsible company. Over the past decade, we have brought positive change through voluntourism, ecotourism and other modes of responsible tourism. As a company, we regularly invest part of our profits to help build school buildings for the underprivileged, sponsor children’s tuitions at various schools and help provide free spectacles to village seniors. We have also partnered with international organisations to help re-build homes for Tsunami affected victims. Moreover, we go a step further and help our clients participate (should they wish so) in various such local projects.
